What data do we collect?
• Your username and email address.
• The grocery lists, items, notes and favorites you create.
• Chat messages within your group, including voice messages and emoji reactions.
• Photos you upload yourself: your profile photo, a group photo, and receipts you scan (receipt gallery).
• Your chosen theme, layout and other display settings.
• Technical data: IP address, device/browser information and session data, to be able to log in, recognize abuse and secure the service.
• Usage statistics (e.g. which features you use) to improve the app.
Do we use AI, and what does that mean?
Some features (product search, receipt scanning, AI recipes, barcode product recognition, Help Desk reply suggestions) send text or a photo to an external AI service (Groq, based outside the EU) to generate a response. For barcodes, the code is also looked up at Open Food Facts, an open product database. These services only receive what's needed for that one request (e.g. the photo of your receipt, or the text of your question) and don't use this to train their own models on our behalf. These features are optional; you don't need to use them to use the rest of the app.
What do we use your data for?
Solely to make the app work: sharing your lists with your family/group, enabling chat and voice messages, showing photos to whoever you give permission to, and keeping the service safe and reliable. We don't sell data to third parties and don't show ads.
What's the legal basis?
We process your data because it's necessary to carry out the agreement (using the app), and for some parts (like local storage of preferences) based on the consent you gave via the cookie screen.
Who can see my data?
Members of your own group see the lists/messages/photos that have been made visible to them. If your group has assigned an assistant, that person can also perform member-management actions within your group. App admins may look in for technical issues, moderation or abuse, solely for support and safety — this is logged in an audit log.
How long do we keep data?
As long as your account or group exists. Chat messages, handled warnings and technical error reports are also automatically cleaned up after a certain period (default 30, 90 and 30 days — admins can adjust this). When your account/group is deleted, the associated data is removed, except for data we're legally required to keep (such as financial transaction records).
Your rights (GDPR)
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure (you can always delete your account/group yourself via the theme menu), restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (or the regulator in your own EU country). Questions about your data? Contact us via the Help Desk in the app.
